Longevity Year in Review
Longevity Exercise Physiology Drummoyne, Edgecliff, Marrickville, Bella Vista, Randwick, Pymble, Balmain and Neutral Bay reflect on the amazing year we have had. Not only have our clients had some incredible accomplishments, but so have our team! Here are a few of our highlights.
January
Every January we begin the year firing with the annual Longevity Retreat. This year the team visited Gerringong. We were able to strike the perfect balance between work and planning the year ahead but also spending some quality time together as a team. It was a great weekend and the whole team came away refreshed and with a growth mindset ready to attack the year ahead.
March
Our Exercise Physiologist Georgia competed at the Australian Track and Field Championships in the women’s 800m after missing the last 5 years due to injury. Georgia was thrilled to be back on track racing at a competitive level after years of disruption.
Guy also achieved a huge goal of his purchasing his first property in Sydney.
April
After a busy start to the year servicing clients and being busier than ever, we were able to hire our first medical receptionist to the team. Welcome Nikki!
April also saw us add another Exercise Physiologist to join Ashleigh at our Randwick location. Welcome Hannah!
June
Going into lockdown and with gyms being forced shut our team had to adapt and find new ways to service all our amazing clients. The next few months would see us complete countless sessions over telehealth, via home visits and outdoors in the park, rain, hail, or shine! We are so proud of all our clients who continued training consistently during this time of uncertainty.
June also saw Longevity find its first forever home, Neutral Bay! Andrew sold his 19year old studio to join the Longevity Family and also gave us our first Longevity location. Luke, an Exercise Physiologist who had worked with Andrew for several years also joined the Longevity team. With all the changes and challenges of lockdown it was very nice to have our first home base.
To top off the excitement we hired three new Exercise Physiologists. Kale joined Georgia in Drummoyne, Josh joined the expanding team at Pymble and Annabel joined Andrew and Luke in Neutral Bay.
July
At Longevity we also love to celebrate all our personal triumphs outside of work. Our Exercise Physiologist from Neutral Bay, Luke became a Father! Luke and his partner welcomed their beautiful daughter Lilly to the word at the start of July. Nikki purchased her first home with her partner while also juggling a new full-time job and two young kids. Congratulations Luke and Nikki!
During the height of lockdown, we were also able to add another Exercise Physiologist, Naomi. Naomi joined Team Pymble as our new team leader. Welcome Naomi!
August
During lockdown, some of our team members were able to use the extra downtime they had to spend some more time with their families and friends. Although some of these interactions had to be on zoom, it didn’t make them any less special. Our Exercise Physiologist Courtney was lucky enough to live within 5km of her sister and loved being able to meet her at Centennial Park for walks on the weekend. She also got to spend time with her new baby nephew! Angela, another one of our Exercise Physiologists in Edgecliff, felt very grateful to be able to work during this period and continue to service our amazing clients.
October
‘Freedom Day’ saw many of our staff and clients able to return to the gyms after months of hard work outdoors or over telehealth. While we are so proud of how our team were able to still provide an incredible service during lockdown, it was a welcome relief for many of us to be back indoors!
With life slowly returning to normal, Shannon, Ashleigh and Jackie reflected on their time during the slower months of lockdown. Shannon was grateful for having more time to train and exercise with friends outdoors. Jackie was able to focus more on his own health and his family. He even bought his grandparents a treadmill! Ashleigh took the opportunity to take on responsibilities within the business, taking charge of our Randwick and Marrickville locations.
We also welcomed Kyle, our New Exercise Physiologist in Balmain!
November
November was a busy month for our team! We kicked things off with a cracking Christmas party where we celebrated our success after a turbulent year. It was a great day on the harbour with the team followed by drinks later in the evening where our partners joined in the fun. Longevity really is like a family; we are so grateful to be able to share our success with our Team Members and those closest to us.
We also welcomed two new Longevity babies! Susannah and her partner welcomed their first daughter, Laila to make a family of four. Jarrat and Marcella welcomed Gerty, an adorable Australian Sheppard! If you’re lucky, you may see Gerty at our Edgecliff location, be sure to say hello!
Before Mitch moves back to Canada, he had some business to settle in Australia. In November Mitch broke the Australian Deadlift record lifting an incredible 475kg! Well done Mitch!
December
Sadly, this month we said goodbye to a very valued member of our team. Mitch began working with Longevity in August 2018 as a student, from there he was offered a position as a casual Exercise Physiologist, and the rest is history! Thank you, Mitch, for over 3 years of hard work and dedication to Longevity and our vision. We are sad to see you go but also very excited to see you succeed back home with the opening of Longevity Canada! You will be missed!
To fill Mitch’s position, we hired two New Exercise Physiologists to join the team at Edgecliff. Welcome Ellen and Nate! You have some big shoes to fill!
2021 has been a challenging but very rewarding year. We had our most successful year ever, and we are looking forward to carrying the momentum into 2022! We already have four new staff members lined up ready to begin in January, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of next year has to offer!
