What is an Allied Health Professional?
Our Longevity Exercise Physiologists at Edgecliff, Marrickville, Lindfield and Randwick are allied health professionals.
“Allied health professionals are health professionals that are not part of the medical, dental or nursing professions. They are university qualified practitioners with specialised expertise in preventing, diagnosing and treating a range of conditions and illnesses. Allied health practitioners often work within a multidisciplinary health team to provide specialised support for different patient needs.” – AHPA (Allied Health Professionals Australia)
At Longevity we have strong community connections with other Allied health professionals and Medical professionals such as General Practitioners (GP’s). This means that we receive referrals from other health professionals when they have a patient/client who requires Exercise physiology services and we refer out into the community if one of our clients requires further medical intervention. We establish a strong communication network with other health professionals so that information can be shared and therefore better outcomes for clients can be achieved.
What Allied Health professionals are out there and what do they do? The following list describes some of the health professionals you may have come across in your community, described by their head governing bodies.

They use their knowledge and skills in a range of workplaces from client-facing roles in clinics and hospitals, to foodservice roles in which they impact the nutrition of residents and inpatients, to roles where they influence the health of the population by impacting food policy and the food supply such as in government public health roles and food companies.
