Hands-On Learning: Client-Centered Care in Week 7
Hey, it’s Taylah, and I am currently in my final year of completing my Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology at Deakin University, and I’m back to report on how week 7 of my Internship has been!
This week has been jam packed working with clients and leading sessions, it’s been amazing having more and more input into the exercise prescription which I then have the opportunity to implement with clients. It has reinforced how there is no ‘right’ way to treat a specific condition as every client presents so differently, even the same client can present so differently from session to session.

Seeing how easily each of the Exercise Physiologists are able to problem solve and adapt sessions according to their client is super inspiring, they actively listen to how the client feels and modify the session accordingly, allowing the client to feel heard while continuing to address their needs and goals.
At University, they say that client centered care is one of the most important things… and I think this is the perfect example of client centered care coming to light.
I can’t believe I only have one more week to go, I guess time flies when you’re having fun! I’ll be back next week to reflect on my final week…
