The Benefits of Individualised Exercise Physiology Sessions
Today Longevity Exercise Physiology Drummoyne, Edgecliff, Marrickville, Bella Vista, Randwick, Lindfield and Balmain look at why individual exercise physiology sessions are so beneficial.
The benefits of individualised Exercise Physiology sessions
A common question that we get asked is why we opt for individual therapy, as opposed to group therapy. This query has come from people who have never had a session with an Exercise Physiologist (EP) before, those who have heard about us or have been referred to us, and even those who are currently seeing us. Here at Longevity, we pride ourselves in providing our patients with one-on-one, personalised care during each and every session so that our clients achieve the best possible health outcomes. Here are the benefits of having individualised Exercise Physiology sessions with Longevity:
1) You will receive the full attention of your EP
As a client, you will work very closely with your Exercise Physiologist (EP) on a one-on-one basis (think of it tackling health goals together with your EP a team!). All sessions with a Longevity EP will include exercise treatments such as assessments, aerobic, resistance, balance and/or mobility training, as well as various other modes of exercise. All of these will be tailored made towards your preferences and goals, resulting in a very comprehensive treatment experience focused on solely you.
2) Feedback is much more valuable
You will be able to receive direct, personalised feedback on your progress from your EP on a regular basis. This is because having individualised sessions ensures that you have plenty of face-to-face time with your EP, which in turn gives them a more complete understanding of your overall progress and health status. In turn, this would also strengthen the professional relationship between you and your EP far greater than in a group setting.
3) Confidentiality and privacy
For many people, exercise physiology is a treatment for their chronic health conditions. As a result, sometimes there may be things that you only wish to disclose between you and your EP during your sessions, which is highly difficult to achieve in a group setting. In a one-on-one session, you can be assured that the confidentiality of your treatment sessions is maintained and that no one else will learn about your issues or health information.
4) Personalised pace and structure
The pace and structure of each session can be tailor made to suit the needs of you specifically. This cannot be achieved in group sessions as the pace and structure often needs to be adjusted to meet the collective needs of all clients in a session, resulting in a compromise.
5) Greater flexibility with scheduling
For individualised therapy, session times for exercise can be arranged to fit your schedule and can be adjusted depending on specific circumstances. This is not the case for group sessions. In fact, we have had many situations where one client is away for a group session and the other client experiences a personalised session and immediately realises the greater benefits of having a one-on-one, as they have experienced it first-hand.
6) Greater content in each session
This final point links in with the fourth. If your session is completely personalised to you, there are no adjustments or compromises needed to be made for another person. This means there can be more exercise treatment that can be packed in for you within your session, compared to in a group setting.
One of our core concepts at Longevity is client-centred care. This means that we are dedicated to providing the best treatment options for you and your health, and it is our duty to help deliver those to you. Hence, Longevity EPs run each session to ensure that you and only you are the focus of our attention, while at the same time making you feel comfortable and allowing you to enjoy exercise.
