What is Your City2Surf?

The City2Surf is more than just a 14km run from Sydney’s CBD to Bondi Beach. For many, it’s a symbol of achievement, resilience, and community. But not everyone can or wants to take on this iconic challenge—and that’s okay.

At Longevity, we believe everyone has their own version of the City2Surf. It might not involve pounding the pavement up Heartbreak Hill, but it does involve setting a goal, working consistently toward it, and celebrating what your body can do.

So, we ask: What is your City2Surf?

Realistic Goal Setting – Why It Matters

Setting a goal that aligns with your current health, lifestyle, and capacity is key to success. It’s easy to fall into the trap of comparison—especially when social media fills up with race bibs, sweaty smiles, and finish line celebrations. But your journey is your own.

Your “City2Surf” might be:

  • Walking to the shops and back without pain.
  • Climbing a flight of stairs without getting breathless.
  • Picking up your grandchild with confidence.
  • Going back to the gym after years away.
  • Playing a full 18 holes of golf.
  • Being consistent with your twice-weekly exercise sessions.

No matter the size of the goal, the impact on your confidence, quality of life, and overall health can be profound.

Create a Goal for August 10, 2025

You have just over two months until the next City2Surf. If completing the race isn’t in the cards for you, this is the perfect time to define a goal that is achievable by that same date—August 10, 2025.

Here’s how you can start:

  1. Reflect on what matters to you.
What is something you’d love to do, improve, or return to? This could be physical, emotional, or social.
  2. Speak to your Exercise Physiologist.
Our team is trained to help you turn a vague idea into a SMART goal—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. We’ll assess where you’re at now and build a tailored plan to get you there safely and sustainably.
  3. Celebrate small wins.
Progress isn’t always linear, but every step matters. You might not realise how far you’ve come until you look back at where you started.
  4. Build a routine that works.
Consistency is more important than perfection. One session a week is better than none. Showing up when motivation is low builds resilience—and results.

Your Journey, Your Finish Line

At Longevity, we train runners, walkers, parents, grandparents, injury rehabbers, and people managing chronic conditions. Some clients will be running the City2Surf in under 70 minutes, while others are cheering from home, proud to have achieved their own version of the event.

We’ll be celebrating all of them—because every finish line looks different.
