Zac Laws

Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Bio

Zac grew up in the Hills district of Sydney and threw himself into a variety of sports throughout his youth, playing competitive AFL, Basketball and Rugby League. He mainly played AFL, working his way through the ranks to play for the GWS Giants Academy as a 16-year-old, before deciding to focus on his future education during his final year of schooling.

Post-sport, Zac needed an outlet to scratch the competitive itch footy had left. He found it in the gym, focusing on self-improvement and developing his strength and conditioning. This eventually transferred into functional strength and conditioning and then to the sport of CrossFit which he now competes in as an amateur athlete across the greater Sydney region.

Zac was set on transferring his love for exercise and health into a career pathway and decided to study a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Technology, before going on to add a Masters of Exercise Physiology from the University of Sydney. It was while studying at university that Zac learned about the presence and impact of various chronic health conditions and diseases on the wider population and the role that exercise could play as ‘medicine’ in the treatment, prevention, and management of these conditions.

Zac believes creating an environment that is friendly and supportive in a setting that to many may be daunting and unfamiliar is the best way to boost client comfort and confidence. Zac focuses on addressing the stigmas and stereotypes that are ever present in the fitness/health industry and bases his work strongly on evidence-based best practices. Zac has experience working with clients with various health conditions including cardiac conditions, cancer, chronic pain, diabetes, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, neurological conditions, and mental health.

However, Zac has a particular love for treating and preventing musculoskeletal injury and associated rehabilitation. Zac focuses on providing the highest level of care for clients whether their goal is treatment/rehabilitation, disease management/prevention or improving performance.
