Client Success Story: Bhautik and Ryan’s Journey
Longevity Exercise Physiology Drummoyne, Edgecliff, Marrickville, Castle Hill, Randwick, Pymble, Kingsgrove, Neutral Bay and Coburg. are excited to share with you Bhautik’s insight into training with a Longevity Exercise Physiologist, as he sits down with Ryan to discuss how Longevity has helped him on his fitness journey.
Bhautik has been training with our Exercise Physiologist, Ryan, at Longevity Marrickville, for 18months. Bhautik has been very consistent despite a busy schedule and as a result he has achieved some life-changing results. Including, going from no running to 9months later running the City2Surf start to finish. Ryan and Bhautik had an interesting discussion around the role and importance of exercise and lifestyle management on creating a healthy and happy life.
What were your expectations when you first started Exercise Physiology with Longevity?
I went into it with my goal of just not being so out of shape to start with. I’d also had some fantasy goals around weight loss that I pretty quickly relegated as unrealistic (and unhealthy!) once I got going. From there it’s been about continuously setting and reaching a series of increasingly ambitious goals
Have your beliefs around the role of exercise in health and well-being changed since starting sessions at Longevity?
A lot. I’m a so-called knowledge worker (silly name really) but even then I came to realise that physical wellbeing is key to being able to work at my best.
What has been your training strategy? What does your training week look like?
Two Exercise Physiology session a week with Ryan at Longevity. Outside of that, daily stretching routines and a ~20km running volume per week as prescribed by Ryan.
What impact has your training had on your life?
More capacity to do things, more focus while I’m doing it and a better mood all round.
What are some of the results have you had since starting at Longevity?
Capacity: paradoxically the time invested into exercise means I can do everything else more efficiently and I have more energy. It also regulates my days, unlocking an astonishing level of focus. The freebie then comes with the uplifted mood, which ties it all together.
Also, I became a dedicated (and addicted) runner. This was a completely unexpected development but I’ll cheerfully take it!
What is the significance of the City to Surf achievement?
It was a huge personal goal – last time I was anywhere near it, I walked it 18 years ago. The goal was to run the whole way, without stopping or slowing down. I did it, and the feeling of euphoria at the end was real and amazing. It’s just crazy that I was able to unlock that level of achievement and I’m very much looking forward to the next challenge.
What were some of the benefits of having an individualised Exercise Management Plan as set by your Longevity Exercise Physiologist?
The main benefit is being able to navigate different historical health challenges and injuries whilst still being able to adhere to exercise and build strong habits. This allowed me to keep progressing towards my long-term goals and achieve some of the above-mentioned results.
