Beyond Exercise: Pippa and Courtney’s Relationship
The best thing about being a Longevity Exercise Physiologist is helping our community feel healthier, stronger and more capable. A close second is the special relationships we build with our clients. There are not many health professionals that can say they work with their clients multiple hours a week, Longevity Exercise Physiologists are one of them. As you can imagine, this allows us to form unique bonds with our clients. Today, we’d like to highlight just one example of this.
Pippa started training at Longevity in 2017 with Angela. She was recommended by her sister who was also training with our Longevity Exercise Physiologists. Pippa was initially apprehensive, as she wasn’t sure what to expect. She began training with Angela once a week, and to her surprise, was really enjoying her sessions. After seeing some promising early results, Angela and Pippa agreed to increase her sessions to twice a week.
Courtney joined Longevity in January 2018. Angela thought that Courtney would be a great fit for Pippa, and so Courtney took over these sessions. Their bond was instant, Pippa was enjoying her training more and more and was seeing great progress.
Although the years that followed came with many obstacles (including the COVID-19 Pandemic,) Courtney and Pippa were able to modify their sessions and keep moving during these times. This allowed Pippa to maintain her physical and mental well-being during a challenging period. This is a testament to Pippa’s commitment. Pippa has never given up, and under the guidance and support of Courtney, no matter the setback, they have been able to remain goal orientated and carry on. Courtney has always admired this about Pippa, as well as her ability to put others before herself.
For example, during the 2020 lockdown, Courtney and Pippa set a new goal. Pippa would train to run/walk 5km around Centennial Park. Continuing with training twice a week outdoors, Pippa successfully both built up the strength and fitness to run 5km in September 2020. This was a fantastic achievement for Courtney and Pippa, and they celebrated together with brunch. This is something Pippa was excited and proud to get back to after not running for many years. Courtney felt very privileged and fortunate to not only help Pippa achieve this milestone, but to also be directly involved. Having an Exercise Physiologist and client set a goal together, is incredibly powerful, and something very unique to Longevity.
Pippa trusted Angela, Courtney and the Longevity team with her health so much that her children also became regular Longevity clients, working on their health and sporting performance. Pippa’s whole family reaped the benefits of Exercise Physiology with Longevity.
Both Pippa and Courtney have added value to each other lives, both around and outside of exercise! Courtney is originally from Newcastle and doesn’t have family living locally. Pippa soon stepped in as a motherly figure for Courtney.
Pippa’s genuine care, acceptance and interest in her life really helped Courtney come out of her shell and grow in confidence as an Exercise Physiologist and individual. She threw Courtney birthday celebrations at her house and cooked treats on a weekly basis for the whole team. Not only does she care about Courtney, but all of the Exercise Physiologists at Edgecliff. Pippa has always shown interest in all of our Exercise Physiologists, and is happy to train with any one of them at anytime.
Similarly, Courtney became a person that Pippa could talk to about anything and everything, frustrations at work, family struggles, holiday plans and behaviour change challenges. Courtney reminded Pippa that sometimes she needs to put herself ahead of others and built the motto “Rest and repair” to encourage this.
On the outside, it may look as though it’s just the Exercise Physiologists who are helping our clients. However, if you look closer, it’s a two way street, our clients help us more than you could ever know.
Whether it be friendship, relationship or financial advice, or even just becoming a friend or parental figure in our lives. You are our inspirations and inspire us to be better everyday. This client appreciation week, and every week! – we want to express how grateful we are for all the amazing relationships we get to build with our clients daily.
