Inside My Longevity Internship: Progress, Learning, and Team Synergy

Hey, it’s Taylah, and I am currently in my final year of completing my Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology at Deakin University, and I’m back to report on how week 5 & 6 of my Internship have been!

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve further developed my skills and confidence in running client sessions and I’ve taken a larger role in prescribing exercise sessions. It’s been amazing to see some of the progress from clients I’ve worked with since week 1, whether that be in physical ability, adherence or even confidence.

A week 5 highlight for me was the company PD which introduced a guest speaker to talk to us about burnout – how to identify and prevent it. I found this really interesting particularly while still being a uni student, and there were many strategies I took away from this session that I can bring into my future practice. Another great aspect that Longevity offers to their team; personal development to help with both professional and personal growth!

I’ve really enjoyed working with interns from other Longevity locations, where we’ve been working together on developing a website, along with facilitating our weekly ‘Synergy Sessions.’ These sessions provide an opportunity to share experiences, tips, and address challenges students may face so they can gain the most from their placement experience.

Almost there… Week 7 here we come!
