Meet the Longevity City2Surf Team: Jackie Cheung & Vaishnavi Pasupati

Today, Longevity Exercise Physiology Drummoyne, EdgecliffMarrickvilleCastle HillRandwickPymbleKingsgrove,  Neutral Bay, and Coburg,  sat down with Jackie Cheung and Vaishnavi from Castle Hill to find out how they havebeen preparing for the City2Surf.

Jackie Cheung: Exercise Physiologist at Castle Hill

I chose to run the City2Surf because I saw it as something I’ve never done before.

I’ve always enjoyed challenging my physical capacity in some way or another, so why not try something new? I’m planning to walk and run the City2Surf non-competitively. Above all however, it’s a great opportunity to get active amongst an amazing crowd of people and share a fun experience with my fellow Longevity crew.

I don’t have much experience with running long distances, so this should be quite interesting. However, I’ve done a fair bit of sprinting on flat roads and hills in the past, and I run as part of my cardio training each week. My goal is to run at least 7km of the race and then walk the rest of the way with the others.

I have been following the Longevity cardiovascular protocols four days a week as part of my workout routine, and I have been finding them so beneficial and enjoyable now as well.

I’m really looking forward to spending the day with my teammates and sharing some good times together. It’s always fun to do a physical activity with an encouraging and supportive group of people whilst also challenging each other.

Vaishnavi Pasupati: Exercise Physiologist at Castle Hill

I decided to do the City2Surf as a way to bond with the rest of the team.

I also have a few clients doing it this year as well, so I wanted to be able to support them. I have never done the City2Surf, so I will be walking it this year, but I am excited for the challenge!

I’ve never been a huge distance runner before, but I used to frequently run/walk 10 km every week. I also really enjoy long walks, so I’m quite looking forward to the experience.

Since I’ve never done the City2Surf before, my main goal is to get to the end, however long it takes.

I’ve been doing training sessions once a week with Luke at the moment. We’ve been mainly working on my big lifts and the Longevity cardio protocols, which I’m finding quite achievable and enjoyable now! Luke has also been getting me to do one independent run each week as homework in the lead up to the City2Surf.

He has also been giving me things to work on each week during my independent sessions, which has been really helpful!

I’m looking forward to the chance to bond with the rest of the team. We’re all training together in the lead up, and we’ll be doing the event as a team. The 14 km can be a bit intimidating, so it’ll be nice to do it with the support of the whole team around me.

If you’re looking for ways to improve your running even further as the City2Surf approaches, or you’re entering it for the first time, give us a call on 1300 964 002 today!
