3 ways to keep exercising during the COVID-19 pandemic
The world as we know it has drastically changed due to Corona Virus (COVID-19). We have had to change the way we interact with each other on a daily basis and adapt to keep everyone safe. All gyms and outdoor exercise equipment are now closed however Longevity Exercise Physiology is here to support you so that you continue to pursue your health and fitness goals. We want to remind everyone that exercise is as important as ever for both your physical and mental wellbeing.
Below are 3 ways that you can keep exercising during the COVID-19 pandemic:
1. Going outside for a walk or run
You can still go outside to exercise as long as you follow the current restrictions of exercising with only one other person. Going for a walk or run around your local area will increase your step count and ensure you are achieving the Australian Physical Activity Guidelines. As a bonus you’ll be getting some Vitamin D which is great for your mental wellbeing.
2. Exercise at home
For those individuals currently self-isolating and in the higher risk categories exercising at home is the safest alternative during this time. Longevity’s Exercise Physiologists are highly skilled in setting individualised programs with minimal equipment and space to allow you to achieve the results you want.
3. Book an appointment with your Exercise Physiologist via Telehealth
As day light savings has finished and the days are shorter, wetter and colder the most effective way to continue to exercise is to complete a session with your Exercise Physiologist via Telehealth. Telehealth is simple and easy to set up and use. You will be able to see your Exercise Physiologist, receive live feedback while completing your session and continue achieving your health goals from the comfort of your own home.
Our Exercise Physiologists have also had to adapt their training during this time. Ask your EP in your next session about the new ways they are exercising at the moment.
