Prioritising Your Health: George’s Journey from Injury to Strength
Meet George from Kingsgrove. Fourteen years ago, he sustained a neck injury that began to affect his physical health over time. For years, he noticed himself deteriorating but didn’t take action. Then one day, something clicked. George decided to do something about it, and that decision led him to Longevity.
Why Longevity?
George had tried managing his health and fitness on his own but found that self-directed training wasn’t enough. “Longevity has been the right choice,” he reflects. Twice a week, he dedicates an hour to supervised training sessions, which have made all the difference in his performance and overall well-being. The structure, accountability, and expertise provided in these sessions are key benefits he didn’t get from training solo.
The Impact of Training with Alice
One of the highlights of George’s training experience is working with Alice, his Accredited Exercise Physiologist. It’s more than just exercise for George; it’s about the emotional support and guidance Alice provides. “She ensures I’m doing the exercises right, makes training fun, and, most importantly, keeps me on track,” George shares. Supervised sessions have given him confidence and results he never thought possible.
George’s goals have always been to regain as much independence as possible, and his progress has been nothing short of remarkable. When he first started, he was unable to perform a single sit-to-stand, but with consistent effort and guidance, he’s now trap bar deadlifting 35kg! Additionally, he couldn’t lift his arms above shoulder height, yet now he’s incline pressing 20kg. This incredible transformation highlights his dedication and the power of tailored exercise programs in achieving personal goals.
Advice to Men Not Putting Their Health First
George has simple but powerful advice for men who aren’t prioritizing their health: “Such an easy answer—don’t wait, get into it no matter the age, start now.” He’s seen firsthand how neglecting your health can impact not only yourself but also your family. By taking action, he’s improved his quality of life, and he encourages other men to do the same.
Whether you’re dealing with old injuries, feeling out of shape, or simply haven’t found the motivation, George’s story is a reminder that it’s never too late to take control of your health.
