Longevity Exercise Physiology Drummoyne, Edgecliff, Marrickville, Bella VistaRandwickLindfield and Balmain help clients with various chronic conditions to achieve a healthier version of themselves. Regardless of your medical history, exercise background or health goals, Longevity is committed to bettering your long-term health so that you can live a happier life. Today, we will look at a client who has already embarked on this journey and achieved outstanding health outcomes.

Introducing…Paulina. Paulina is a 55 year old female that initially came to see Exercise Physiologist Jackie for her shoulder injury, as it severely impact her ability to work and perform daily household activities. She also had a background of obesity, diabetes, osteoarthritis and chronic lower back pain. However, Paulina was not a health or exercise enthusiast and only wanted her shoulder to get better as soon as possible so that she could return to normal life.

She experienced less pain than she ever had since her injury, regained enough shoulder mobility to hang out her washing comfortably, and enough strength to carry her 2 year old granddaughter again

After having exercise physiology sessions with Jackie 2x a week for several months, Paulina noted that she felt completely different physically and mentally. She experienced less pain than she ever had since her injury, regained enough shoulder mobility to hang out her washing comfortably, and enough strength to carry her 2 year old granddaughter again. However, this only covers part of why Paulina felt different.

Here at Longevity, we take a holistic approach on a client’s health. It was clear that Paulina’s co-morbidities were also taking a toll on her quality of life, self-esteem and daily functioning. Some conditions were also indirectly manifested as a result of her shoulder injury (e.g. due to her shoulder issue, Paulina stopped exercising and gained a significant amount of weight). She was aching in her back and joints, finding it hard to go upstairs without getting out of breath, and was feeling fatigued from medication side-effects. Thus, in addition to rehabilitating Paulina’s injury, we targeted her other co-morbidities as well through multi-faceted exercise programming including aerobic, resistance and balance training. As a result, Paulina became much stronger climbing up stairs, reduced her joint pain and increased her energy levels. After realising the multi-pronged effects of exercise, Paulina has recently set another long-term goal of reducing reliance on her diabetes medication.

Longevity Exercise Physiologists are committed to providing all clients with true value for their long-term health. Sure, many of us have that one health issue that brings us into visiting our health professional in the beginning. However, the beauty of exercise physiology is its ability to manage and treat numerous conditions at once. Paulina is a perfect example of benefiting from exercise in such a way, where she initially came in looking to fix one health issue, but was able to achieve multiple positive outcomes for her health which she was not initially aware was possible.
