Longevity at the City2Surf: A Celebration of Community, Family, and Achievement

Every August, thousands of runners, walkers, and movers of all abilities take to the streets of Sydney for the world’s largest fun run – the City2Surf. This year, the Longevity team once again laced up their shoes and joined the sea of energy, colour, and excitement, united by more than just the 14 kilometres ahead of us.

For us, City2Surf is more than a race – it’s an opportunity to live and breathe our values. It’s about health, connection, teamwork, and showing our clients that fitness isn’t confined to the gym. It’s out there in the community, shared with family, friends, and strangers who become your cheer squad for the day.

Team Longevity Takes on the Challenge

This year, 74 Longevity team members and clients took part, representing locations from across Sydney and beyond. Some were seasoned runners aiming for personal bests, while others were taking on the course for the very first time—proving that it’s never too late to set a new challenge.

From the start line in the CBD to the final stretch along Bondi Beach, we cheered each other on, swapped stories mid-run, and celebrated every hill climbed (yes, even Heartbreak Hill).

Client and Team Member Achievements

The event wasn’t just about the finish line—it was about the stories along the way.

  • Client Amber running the City2Surf for the first time ever. Completing the race in 1 hour and 48minutes.
  • A team member and client, Erin, who lives with Cerebral Palsy did the City2Surf for the first time together and it was the longest walk Erin had ever done. Even with the pouring rain she was stoked!

“I had such a great time doing the City2Surf with Longevity. Even though the weather wasn’t ideal, we carried on and had fun! It was so helpful to have Emma there to encourage me, and I’m really, really proud of my efforts in getting through it. It was also lovely to chat to everyone else at the end and have a bite to eat together.”

Quote from Erin

Whether it was a client completing their very first City2Surf, a team member smashing their previous year’s time, or someone simply making it to the start line after overcoming injury, every achievement mattered.

Community, Connection, and Family

One of the most special parts of the day was seeing families, friends, and colleagues walking and running side by side. Many Longevity clients brought along their children, partners, or mates, turning the race into a shared memory. Some parents even completed the course hand-in-hand with their kids, showing that movement can be a family tradition.

At Longevity, we believe that health isn’t a solo mission – it thrives in community. Events like the City2Surf remind us that movement is more fun when it’s shared. You cheer a stranger, you high-five a mate, and before you know it, you’ve got a network of support carrying you to the finish line.

Already Thinking About Next Year

As the sun set on Bondi Beach and we reflected on the day, the overwhelming feeling was pride – not just in our times or distances, but in the spirit of the Longevity community.

City2Surf is more than just a race for us – it’s a chance to inspire, connect, and prove that with the right support, anything is possible.

We can’t wait to do it all again next year, with even more clients, family members, and team members joining in the fun.
