Bio

I grew up in Mumbai, India, with parents who placed an emphasis on being active throughout life. Having a strong passion for Indian classical dance forms, I started learning the dance form of Bharatnatyam at a very young age and performed locally with my dance group. I also have a passion for hiking and mountaineering and have completed Basic Mountaineering Course from a leading mountaineering institute in the Indian Himalayas.

I did an undergrad degree in Microbiology and started working as a laboratory technician for a few years which was very sedentary and time consuming. During my time as a lab technician, my health took a back seat. I took a break from work and travelled for about a year around India covering 10 states out of 28. In my time traveling I realised I wanted to have an impact on the lives of people by focusing on their health and well-being.

After extensive research and applications, I moved to Australia to do a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology at University of Sydney. This has been the best decision of my life. Being an Exercise Physiologist has given me the opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of my clients through exercise.

I have experience working with various conditions like Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardiovascular diseases, Multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Osteoarthritis, different types of cancers, serious mental health conditions like Schizophrenia, depression and anxiety and chronic pain. I also have some experience in developmental disorders like Cerebral palsy, Intellectual disability, Autism spectrum disorder and ADHD.

Having played no specific sport most of my life, I took up powerlifting as a sport in 2022 and competed locally in Sydney, which helped me gain discipline and resilience. I look forward to doing more competitions in the future and include my learnings from this sport in my clients’ programming.

When I am not working, I enjoy working in my garden and watch crime documentaries. I love going for high altitude treks whenever I am travelling to India and spending time with my cats and talking about them to everyone!
