Welcome Alice!

The Longevity Team would like to welcome Alice Cuthbert Cheney to our growing team! Alice is based at Kingsgrove with Nat.

Alice has joined the Longevity Wave – here’s why!

Tell us a bit about your journey to being an EP, Alice

I was driven to pursue my career as an exercise physiologist as I myself have a lived experiences with chronic health conditions that impacted my ability to move. I never felt as though I was never fully supported or understood by my doctors, which left me feeling helpless. It wasn’t until I incorporated specific exercise to manage my condition that I was able to gain back control of my life. My passion then became to empower people to take control of their health, and to understand how exercise can be used as medicine to treat and manage chronic conditions.

To fulfil this purpose, I completed a Bachelors of Applied Science (Exercise Physiology) at the university of Sydney, graduating in 2023. I have since worked in a private practice and gained experience working with a range of clientele with various health concerns.

How did you come across Longevity?

When leaving my previous role, I was looking for a job that truely invested in their staff members. For me, personal growth as an Exercise physiologist was super important. I was looking for a workplace that provided opportunities for continued education and learning so that I could continue to better myself as an Exercise Physiologist. I began by looking online at job advertisements, which was quite overwhelming. That’s when I came across Longevity!! The advertisement stood out to me, as there was a focus on how the company could help me learn and grow, rather than just on what qualifications I had. Longevity provides us with a multitude of opportunities for continued learning. Whether that be weekly personal development sessions or clubs such as book club.

What convinced you to apply?

I decided to reach out to one of my friends from University who currently worked for Longevity. Her first response was regarding how supportive the team was and the opportunities Longevity provided for career growth. That is when I thought I thought “I’m actually going to fill out the application”. Imagine coming into work and knowing you have a supportive team that is continually growing, with the chance to learn from over 50 Exercise Physiologists, each with different skill sets and experiences. How could you not apply!?!

How’s your ride on the Longevity wave been so far?

My journey so far has been both super exciting and equally challenging! At first I was worried coming from a smaller company, that it would be difficult to learn the new systems. Oh how I was wrong. The fact that even the director of the company, Jarrat, would take time out of his day to answer my questions and make me feel comfortable, illustrated to me that the companies values weren’t all talk.

Any wise words to people thinking about applying for Longevity?

If you are thinking about applying for Longevity, go for it!! I was hesitant at first, because the opportunities for continued learning and growth almost seemed too good to be true. To my surprise, I feel as though I have learnt more about what it takes to be a successful exercise physiologist in the past month than I had during my whole 4 years of study.
