Exercise Physiology Bella Vista

Longevity Exercise Physiology Bella Vista is located within the New Image Personal Training studio on Lexington Drive. We operate within a private COVID-safe studio clinic with access to a variety of commercial gym equipment, cardio machines, bands and free weights. Telehealth consultations are also available upon request, if you’re unable to make it into the clinic or would prefer to work on your health from the comfort of your own home.

We also liaise with other medical and allied health professionals to enable us to provide the most holistic approach to your health, and provide referral pathways should we see your condition requiring the additional assistance of another health professional.

The exercise physiologists at Longevity are equipped to provide services for NDIS, WorkCover, Medicare, DVA and are able to cover Private Health Rebates through an on-site HICAPS machine. Our Longevity Bella Vista Exercise Physiologists, Jackie and Kevin, are qualified specialists in providing long term health solutions that take into account your conditions and any co-morbidities.

  • Client Success Story: a fracture fairytale

It was about 30mins before the start of the NRL Grand Final between the Rabbitohs and the Bulldogs and one of my clients, Matt and I were lucky enough to be able to catch up before kick-off to have a drink. It was a great day and whilst we were both enjoying the day with separate parties it was great to catch up outside of the gym for a change. We went our separate ways before the game and there was no way to foresee how the night would turn out (for the two teams fighting out the Grand Final and for Matt). Unfortunately, Matt suffered a fracture to his foot whilst running for the train after the game. As it turns out, Sam Burgess wasn’t the only person to have a fracture that night and unfortunately there was no “Glory, glory” for Matt. He was about as shattered as the thousands of bulldogs supporters leaving the ground….. and he isn’t a bulldogs supporter. Matt was disappointed when he called me the next day to deliver the news: “It’s fooked” he said, quoting big Sam. We then set about a plan to keep Matt’s fitness up for the next 6 weeks whilst his foot was in a moonboot (see picture).

Your Health is a Marathon, Not a Sprint

I watched a fantastic TED Talk during the week on Success. The crux of the message from the talk is that the biggest contributor to success across a wide variety of fields is grit: the ability to be both resilient and perseverant in your field of choice to attain the highest level of competency. You can view the full talk here.

This talk had so many parallels with my approach to health I had to blog about it here:

  • You Know What You Want – Now Go Get It!

Recently we published a post asking you a very important question: “What do you want?”. You can read the full article here. Before you read on, I want to make sure that you choose something. You can choose ANYTHING related to your health: reduce pain, lose weight, increase energy levels, live until I’m 100! You can choose anything you like. Choose it now.

The most important part of choosing what you want is making sure it is connected to what is most important to you. If family is important to you, make sure you connect it back to your family. If having a successful career is important to you, then connect it back to that. If your relationship with your partner is important, then connect it back to that. Check that what you want is connected to what you value the most and then read on.

If there is one thing for sure that I have learnt after working with hundreds of clients regarding behaviour change, it is that if what you want is not connected to what you see as the most important things in your life and what you value the most, then you will not take the necessary steps to turn what you want into a reality.

So now that you know what you want, read on to see what the next steps are….
