Meet the Longevity City2Surf Team: Annabel
Name: Annabel Bergman, team leader at Neutral Bay
Why did you choose to run/walk the City2Surf?
I will be running the City2Surf this year alongside my colleagues and clients from Longevity. I’m planning to complete the Sydney marathon in September, so I’m doing the City2Surf as a trial run to practice running up hills, challenging my body and having a good time with colleagues and clients. I’ve done the City2Surf before and I believe it’s one of the best ‘fun runs’ to do! It’s the biggest fun run in the world, and it’s all ages and all-inclusive – lots of people dress up, and it’s just a fun day in the sun!
What’s your experience with walking or running?
Running has never been something I have completed regularly. I started running last June with the aim to complete the City2Surf for the first time, which I did! I then went on to do the Paris half-marathon earlier this year. At this year’s City2Surf, I really want to try to get as many friends, family and clients involved because it’s just a really fun day out and you don’t have to have any running experience.
Are any of your clients completing the race with you?
I’ve got a couple of clients doing the City2Surf with me this year. Interestingly, both of them have hip bursitis. One is planning to run, and the other will be walking it with friends and family. My aim is to get as many clients involved no matter their age or ability.
How are you training for the event?
I am doing regular strength training twice a week, to make sure my knee is strong for the event (I have a previous knee injury). I’m training with my Longevity EP, Kale. I’m also doing some hill training, to prepare for Heartbreak Hill, and I’m going on two long runs every week.
What are your goals?
My two goals this year are to beat my time from last year, and to get as many clients involved in this event as possible!
