My Experience as a Paid Intern with Longvity in Ascot Vale, Victoria – Sevannah
Hey! My name is Sevannah. I’m currently an intern at Victoria’s wonderful Ascotvale location.
I’m currently on the last legs of my Master’s degree with just over 2 months left to go. I’m very lucky to have stumbled across this opportunity through Deakin who advertised the role. I simply thought, I have nothing to lose so I applied. Thankfully enough, I was successful!
The internship at Longevity has really painted a nice image of how I want to be as a clinician. By this I mean the EPs around me are so wonderful, full of energy, ready to teach and are just genuinely good people. Having been across both Coburg and Ascotvale locations, I’ve seen some truly amazing relationships between clients and clinicians which reminds me of why I wanted to be an EP.
I’ve learnt to always be curious. Genuinely wanting to know more about someone and diving deeper into their background is so essential to building genuine connections with clients, something that uni doesn’t teach you. I’ve realised the importance of taking any opportunity that presents itself. Now this could be in any form but the point is to keep open-minded.
You won’t know what you’re capable of if you stay inside your box.
Looking forward, the prospect of being amongst some genius minds is very exciting. I’m definitely going to be soaking it up for the rest of the internship. I’m also looking forward to the different experiences that comes with this internship, and ensuring to get out of my comfort zone. Importantly, I’m excited to help keep building connections and community in every environment. Last but not least, I’m excited to see how these skills that I’ve developed now will help shape my career.
Can’t wait to see what’s installed!
